In the gospel of John, Jesus tells us that He is going to prepare a place for us in His Father’s house. He says, “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:1-7)
But we often mirror the question of Thomas when he responds with, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Sometimes we feel lost and disoriented.
We doubt ourselves and wonder if we actually know the way or whether we’re on the right path.
But Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life.”
Jesus is not only the Light that illuminates the path, He is the path.
Jesus not only guides us, but he accompanies us.
We are no longer lost and alone.
Len Sweet says it like this in Jesus Manifesto, “In all the religions and philosophies of the world, a follower can follow the teachings of its founder without having a relationship with that founder… the teachings of Jesus cannot be separated from Jesus Himself.”
Ekko believes Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. And because of this, we can follow Him no matter how narrow the path or arduous the journey. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, therefore, we can submit to Him and trust His direction. Where He leads, we will follow.
Because we believe He is the Way, the Truth and Life, we can follow His leadership and practice these commands of our Lord: 1, 2, 5, 15, 19, 25, 29.
1 | Repent
“From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matthew 4:17).
2 | Follow Me
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” (Matthew 4:19).
5 | Honor God’s Law
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (Matthew 5:17).
15 | Judge Not
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:1–3).
19 | Choose the Narrow Way
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13–14).
25 | Take My Yoke
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30).
49 | Make Disciples
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19–20).
