The EKKO Children’s Pastor, under the guidance and supervision of the Associate Pastor and in collaboration with staff, will provide leadership, vision, and direction to create a strong faith foundation that allows our children to love God, others, and themselves. The Pastor will be responsible for the theological and spiritual formation of EKKO children from toddler age (1-2) to 5th grade. The Pastor will shepherd and oversee the children’s ministry with biblical preaching and teaching to children, leading teams/departments of teachers, coordinating Sunday operations, and ministering to parents and families.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• College Degree
• Seminary Studies (completed or in process with the goal of M.Div. if seeking ordination, or M.A.)
• Prior Church/Ministry Experience

SUNDAY SERVICE PREPARATION & EXECUTION (40%)

• Sermons
– Biblical sermons and curriculum unto salvation and towards spiritual growth
– Consider children’s background—disability, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, etc.—
for inclusive gospel proclamation and discipleship

• Worship
– Guide EKKO Kid’s worship team and shape overall flow of worship

• Pastoral Care
– Provide pastoral care to teachers for discipleship
– Provide pastoral care to students on Sundays

• Material and Curriculum Preparation
– Using biblical and theological knowledge as foundation, along with appropriate child development
theories as needed for curriculum formation, classroom grouping, etc.
– Prep memory verses for each new series.
– Prep response activities.
– Gather and purchasing supplies.
– Print, collate, and prepare all curriculum materials.
– Replenish snacks and supplies on a weekly basis.
– Check facility inventory.

• Sunday Service Setup and Cleanup
– Gather all supplies for classrooms, service, worship space, check-in table.
– Put supplies back in their original locations.
– Clean up the children’s ministry area including classrooms, worship room, playground, and gym.

ADMINISTRATION (20%)

• Weekly Operational Duties
– Send out weekly teacher emails and schedules.
– Prepare worship slides and update Spotify playlist.
– Prepare and send out Mailchimp email to parents for weekly updates.
– Maintain department budgets.
– Input teachers in Planning Center.
– Communicate with the broader church about what God is doing in and among our children.

LEADERSHIP & CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT (30%)

• Leadership Development
– Prayerfully align, equip, and inspire children’s ministry leaders under a unified vision.
– Work within a multilevel structure of volunteers and implement new systems to improve our volunteer
culture and overall flow.
– Train and raise up teachers and department leaders.
– Build relationships with department leaders and teachers through training, encouragement,
and appreciation.
– Bring children’s ministry to a new level of excellence through thoughtful strategy, oversight,
and organization with our volunteers and programming.

• Ministering to Parents and Families
– Support and help equip parents to act as the primary disciple-makers of their children.
– Maintain clear communication with parents concerning the vision of children’s ministries and the ongoing
programs and opportunities to encourage partnership and involvement.
– Compile materials and resources to share with parents to help assist the seasonal teachings/themes.

• Personal Growth & Resourcing
– Regular meetings with Pastors and Staff.
– Open to new growth opportunities depending on ministry needs under the guidance of direct supervisor.

• Easter Sunday (Spring)
• VBS (Summer)
• Trunk-or-Treat (Fall)
• Christmas Service (Winter)

• Family Ministry Events (All Year Wide)

• Child Dedications
– Help officiate and organize the dedication.

• Family Nights
– Host more gatherings for families to get to know one another outside of Sundays.

• Parent Workshops
– Host workshops in collaboration with outside advisors/leaders to help educate and inform our parents
with the ins and outs of how EKKO Kids is growing and share the needs as well.
